About the Richmond 400
Come be a part of the action “under the lights” at Richmond International Raceway.
What began as a ½ mile dirt track in 1946, Richmond has become one of NASCAR’s premier raceways.Drivers jockey for position lap after lap on this tight banking track.
The ¾ mile, D-shaped, now asphalt, track is a near perfect venue for spectators and drivers alike.Fans enjoy the tight, side-by-side racing produced by the track’s unique design; while drivers’ performance and skill are pushed to the limit with speeds reaching those of major super speedways.
The atmosphere and short track intensity make Richmond an absolute must for any NASCAR fan.
Rock and Roll 400
Are you ready to "rock and roll?" The Richmond International Raceway is. Each year in September, this short track that races like a speedway, plays host to the "rock stars" of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. The last race of this series' "regular season" since 2004, the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 has been a playoff of sorts for the top ten points earning drivers. Held under the lights like the Richmond 400, this year's race will be held on September 8th.
When you are talking about Richmond and the Chevy Rock and Roll 400, the lights are on and everyone is home. The new grandstand that seats 7,500 will make this year's races even more enjoyable for the 100,000+ NASCAR fans that fill the Raceway each year. And who wouldn't want to be there to get the opportunity to watch the top NEXTEL Cup drivers like the 2006 winner, Kevin Harvick take the checkered flag. He joins NASCAR notables like Kurt Busch (2005) and Jeremy Mayfield (2004) in the winner's circle at Richmond. This year promises to be just as exciting as the past.
NASCAR racing is a participation sport, and there is no better place to participate than at the Richmond International Raceway for the Chevy Rock and Roll 400. Don't wait! Tickets are available now for this exciting finale to the NEXTEL Cup series.
